07.04.2021.- Madrid.- In Copacabana, Antoni Hervás revisits an investigation previously explored in the exhibition El misterio de Caviria, held at Capella Barcelona in 2016 that orbits around crossdressing cabaret from the 60's and 70's, mythology, and their links with the present.

For his first solo exhibition in Madrid, the artist turns The RYDER into a stage he defined as 'copla-terror' that flourishes in the space through a series of cardboard scenographies that fold and unfold, constructing festive atmospheres that permeate through to his drawings.

Besides this investigation, Copabana also focuses on a performative approach towards drawing that goes beyond the two-dimensionality of paper to build atmospheres and interact with the audience's body. This fluid approach helps Hervàs to construct a narrative that bridges Classical Greek mythology and cabaret, layered further with his own experiences of the contemporary world relating to pop culture, sports and music. In this way, the artist invites the viewer to become part of a ritual – an intimate way of engaging with the world that is ephemeral but forceful, empowering itself through its manifestations. Through an immersive drawing installation, Copacabana conjures up a series of affections that involves the viewer in a jubilant yet rebellious celebration, and brings up past sentiments that can touch, and transform the present.
