Elisabetta Cipriani Gallery is pleased to announce its representation of Spanish contemporary sculptor David Rodríguez Caballero. Rodríguez Caballero’s artistic practice falls within the context of abstraction, with the distinctive use of organic geometry. The artist has explored the poetics of the fold and the curve in his sculptures over the past two decades. Rodríguez Caballero approached jewellery in 2008 as a way of reproducing his own monumental sculptures on a smaller scale: “with jewellery I can develop smaller versions of sculptures and very contemporary pieces that anyone can wear everywhere, without the limitations of space”.
Using only 18kt rose gold as his medium, Rodríguez Caballero created 22 Junio 2.015, 1 De Noviembre de 2.014 and 4 Diciembre 2.015, one of a kind jewellery that recalls the delicate and sculptural shapes seen in his monumental sculptures. The medium of jewellery provides Rodríguez Caballero with the unique opportunity to experiment with key sculptural elements, the curve and the fold, as well as gravity-defying support designs.
